I had every intention to begin reporting on my experiences during MidCamp but not long after returning to "normal" that things got busy again (with Drupal). I am on my class reunion committee where I also maintain the website (http://ProvisoEast72.org, which I have been happy to do pro-bono for the experience) and received an email from Bob. Apparently he is writing a book and wished to add a survey for his research.
I just finished spending the weekend at a Drupal Conference. I attended Drupal MidCamp that started on Thursday March 19 and finished on Sunday March 22. I had a great time and I was definately needing the comradery and the exposure that I received at camp.
This was the the third Drupal Event like this that I had attended. The first one was in Madison Wis at the end of July last year and the Fox Valley Drupal Camp that was in early September. It was so great attending the sessions, rubbing shoulders with other Drupaliers and immersing myself in the Drupal Community.
After 10 months of focus I'm starting to think this Drupal Stuff is starting to make sense. My ProvisoEast72.org project took me a couple of months to get it to the point where I was happy with it.
My MadameWiladina.com took 5 months to get online (there were a great many detours before I could get that site live).
Then I had cwps.us that I did in about 3 days (but I just basically went from a static site to a dynamic site, the hardest aspect was figuring out the theme).
I have got a lot done since my last post. I have 1 site that has gone live (MadameWiladina.com) after 4 months work. It is an online store that sells lingire. So far the feedback has been very positive.
The other website I am working on is a site that is another online store. This one is for selling artwork. As with the MadameWIladina site, this one is using Commerce Kickstart2. They do look a lot similar (since I used the same default template for both sites) but under the hood both sites are quite a bit different.
Time flies when I am pulling out my hair. I have been through so many things, much to many to have kept track here.
What have I done over the last 4 months?
- I rebuilt my VM, upgrading to a newer version of Debian LINUX
- I rebuilt my web server implimenting Nginx, Mariadb, php, and Drupal.
- Survived a major security breach in Drupal v7.33
- Transitioned all my Drupal sites to the new web server (so eveything is in one place now).
- I have just completed upgrading a friend's e-store from Zencart to Drupal Commerse Kickstart 2.
